Biographical Sketch

Thomas B. Lloyd

Thomas B. Lloyd has had a life-long interest in agriculture. After graduating from Washington College in 1995 he was appointed Assistant Farm Manager of a five-thousand-acre farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Later he was employed by the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Delaware to investigate the market potential of kenaf, a non-wood source of fiber for paper. While at the University of Delaware, Mr. Lloyd became interested in the use of satellite technology for agricultural assessment. Currently he is a geo-spatial analyst with the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and an intern with the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service. He is pursuing an MS degree at George Mason University in Geographic and Cartographic Sciences with special emphasis on agricultural applications. Mr. Lloyd has been a member of the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture since 1993.
